Our yachts have been using Profurl jib furlers for the last 25 years, and the ease of managing big overlapping headsails with them has been proven to us again and again. We’ve recently equipped our boat with a Profurl Spinex furler for our Code Zero. We were not sure how this would compare with traditional hoisting and dropping, but having watched every Youtube video we could find on it, it looked good enough to be worth a try.
It blew the doors off, and now the thought of flying the asymmetrical kites are met with enthusiasm by the crew. We recently completed a passage race in downwind light airs, and deployed and furled our code zero so many times we lost count. It was effortless, and quite honestly, we will probably never fly a symmetrical kite again. In fact it was so good, we went straight out and fitted a second one to our massive light air asymmetrical kite…If you’ve been hearing about code zero’s and asymmetrical spinnakers and wondering what all the fuss is about, get in touch with us and we’ll tell you all about it.
